Guildford Armed Forces Day

Friary was again represented at Guildford’s celebration of Armed Forces Day on 24th June. Principal cornet Richard Straker played Reveille whilst the flag was raised above the Guildhall balcony, saluted by Armed Forces representatives who were accompanying the Mayor and Canon Richard Cotton on the balcony. ‘It’s a great honour to represent the Band for this prestigious occasion,’ acknowledged Richard. ‘Along with Remembrance Sunday in November, it’s a poignant reminder that without the sacrifices made by our Armed Forces, the Band would not have the freedom to play our music of choice today,’ he added.
