Friary Guildford Band led Saturday's parade to mark the 50th anniversary of the University of Surrey. Marching up the recently refurbished High Street, the Band headed the procession which included the University's chancellor, HRH The Duke of Kent, Borough Councillors and other dignitaries. Principal cornet, Richard Straker, a graduate of the University, was delighted to be part of the celebrations: 'It was soon after I started studying at Surrey that I joined Friary, so to help mark this milestone for the University is quite special.'
